As young children, we develop patterns of relating to others, and ways of viewing ourselves and the world, which best enable us to get our needs (physical and emotional) met at that time. When we grow older, these patterns may no longer be effective in enabling us to cope with what life throws at us, but changing them can be difficult.


Counselling provides non-judgmental support when facing particular difficult life decisions or changes, help in considering the options available, and in achieving the choices made.


Counselling usually refers to a brief treatment that centres on problem solving and behaviour patterns. It can help people identify problems and crises and encourages them to take positive steps to resolve these issues. Counselling is the best course of therapeutic treatment for anyone who already has an understanding of wellbeing, and who is also able to resolve problems. Counselling is a short-term process that encourages the change of behaviour.


Entering into any form of counselling requires a firm commitment on the part of the individual in distress, and open communication.

Each session is 50 minutes in duration. The course of sessions will be discussed during the initial contact and will vary.
